There are many thing that determine share price and Equity is probably 4th or 5th on the list. It is interesting that SH Equity would go up allot with this deal. It would go from 2 cents to 5.5 cents, almost triple.
Using very general numbers to keep math simple.
Currently there is $ 70 M in equity left in this company. with 3.5B Shares that is 2 cents a share. At 10 cents a share and about $300M of debt removed the new Equity would be $370M and 6.5B shares. This would more than double stock holders equity to 5.6 cents/ sh.
If you are a SH this is something to be happy about. For me it raises more flags that there is something wrong with the reporting of this deal.
