It's possible they both used Worldwide Printing Solutions' graphic design service - they have a branch on Eagle Street. They would have cleaned up on that job... one logo for the price of two! They could have even done it for the price of three had LWP continued the theme with Graphenera... e.g.

I think it's going to remain one of life's unsolved mysteries, mate. IMO there is no evidence of a cohesive strategy, or any strategy other than pi*sing in the wind and seeing where they land. Unfortunately they came up against pretty strong headwinds...
