Yeah, I'm really struggling to be able to concisely explain it. The author of that article you read sounds like he's formed a similar view. I hope it doesn't turn out to be as ugly as it could get. My gut says (hopes) it won't, as actual reality most often doesn't hand us a worst-case experience. Then again, this is my first inter-planetary trip...
