The ERG solution in Hong Kong (Octopus card) is being widely used around Hong Kong. It is used on buses, farries as well as the trains. It is also in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is used to pay for small purchases like snacks and drinks.
I use an Octopus card, they are so convenient, you just keep it in your wallet and you do not have to take it out.
