About 8 years ago, I had occasion to ring a top 100 Australian company in which I was a shareholder and asked for a certain person whom I knew had compiled the annual report.
He was not in head office at the time but I was transferred to New York where he was on company business.
I informed him that an error had occured in the financials of the annual report. There was an audible gasp at the end of the phone followed by "Oh no. You do not know how many times that has been checked".
He thanked me for letting him know. This error did not effect the overall result.
My call was not to embarrass him or make fun of an unintentional mistake but to inform.
The recent omission of a word in a recent CDU announcement makes no difference to the message.
It did not warrant being made fun of. We all make errors.
Fortunately for me ,I corrected before posting the information about India's copper requirement of 1.2 million tonnes by 2016. Initially I had put 1.2 billion tonnes.
