Problem is government in Canberra is massively inefficient and they're entangled so deep there's no way they can get out of it. They try to eliminate process by adding another process to fix it instead of actually eliminating it, so the costs just keep spiralling and they end up keep taxing the population for this inefficiency.

Let me tell you a true story. I had colleague who attended some bi weekly review meetings, and one day the powers that be decided to form a committee of who should attend these review meetings. But they couldn't agree on who should be on this committee, so they formed ANOTHER committee that meet regularly to select the people that should be on this first committee. Ridiculous? That's just another day in Canberra.
