You could own your own but if you can't pay your levies - your done.

In australia- some land don't have sewer or water - like small private Islands - but you still pay council rates.

even the air that you breath will be charged - via Carbon-0 levies (we take out the carbon for you - so you pay)

There are 0 annual land tax in Thailand.

You can easily buy land in Thailand, just form a company with a local and buy land under the company registration. I never paid land tax in Thailand, same goes for Myanmar too.
