I think a lot of that is to do with Buddhism in Asian culture, in Buddhism people think 100% of the answers come from the inside and not outside.
So this inward focus puts in a place a filter process, a monk once told you can only be disrespected if you allow yourself to be.
Compared to Western culture where people just lash out without filtering. I've lost count how many times at Kings Cross I see two guys at a shouting match face to face, just don't see this crap in Asia.
