Any nice house in a village is never very far from a main town or city in the UK (except for perhaps Shropshire). So most places would be within a twenty minute drive to a Tescos (Coles equivalent, that has taken over the UK).
Anywhere peripheral to London is a nightmare commute in a car, although there are trains.
Living outside another city like Bristol etc would be ideal, less congested.
