    To add to the similarities ( or not ) of ESG vs QGC , I remember Richard Cottee saying at the time that one of the main reasons they went with BG was that the global credit market for upcoming explorers/producers had completely shut down . Therefore , in the interests of the shareholders , they only way forward was to go with the takeover.

    QGC intention was to stay independent even though it had BG as a partner . In order to do this , they were going to have to raise a lot of money . Unfortunately , the GFC kind of forced their hand.

    Not really sure how this compares to ESG , but I find history a pretty valuable resource sometimes.

    I wonder what Richard Cottee is doing these days ? I know of a couple of csg companies that could probably use his experience about now...
