I think so.
By the nature of head and neck cancer, there is no available effective treatment at the moment. Even the PD-1 antibody alone is still under investigation for this type of cancer. With this one, it is almost impossible to deal with the disease by surgical operation, not chemotherapy.
So now if they have done PD-1 alone treatment achieve 16% overall responding and with Efti combo, responding rate increase to 39%. Thats more than double!
Scientifically and ethically, that is a plausible treatment.
Asking the patients to wait for another long run of up-sized phase trial, is unethical and very brutal.
