I think I know where you are coming from.In a decent manufacturing operation there is usually a standard costing system that measures production effeciency.Then there is the normal accounting system which is usually unrelated to the first system and which simply measurers total input costs and sales revenue.Just for starters think about good product declared as reject product and instead of being destroyed finds its way into the market place.
