Due process, properly executed, is never instantaneous. If it is proven that the Essendon Football Club has knowingly broken the rules, I think that they will cop a punishment that will leave everyone gasping. There is more at stake than the credibility of the AFL.
Such investigations should not be hurried to feed the media or impatient fans.
