More to do with the HSU members being ripped off. -------------------------------------------------------- Forensic accountants have been called in to investigate the accounts of the Victorian branch of the Health Services Union, after the new leaders of the arm found previous regimes had kept chaotic books, according to The Australian Financial Review.
Branch secretary Diana Asmar told the newspaper that the previous administration had been “appalling”, and vowed to turn the branch into Australia's most “accountable and transparent”.
Investigations have discovered that under the previous leadership, member funds were spent on items including Foxtel subscriptions and a massage chair.
“It is very sad to say, very unfortunate to say, the previous leadership has mismanaged this organisation so badly that we are in the situation of trying to rebuild it and repair the damage,” Ms Asmar told the AFR.
“It is disgusting and outrageous. I knew it was going to be bad and a big challenge but it is a disaster.”
