It's important to note the cost of production and the effect that will have on coal pricing. Australia is one of the most efficient mining jurisdictions, chinese and african mining firms operate at larger costs. $80 USD per ton will crunch those on the top and medium end of the cost curve, likely resulting in mine closures.
Thus the cycle repeats.
