Don't beat yourself up too much - you're in good company and in 2015 SGH looked like a good long-term proposition even to people far more experienced than you and me.
Add to that the mis-information that was coming out of SGH at the time, and after, you can forgive yourself for believing your decision was a good long-term option.
If it's any consolation - my rough calculation is that I can multiply your losses by 10.
For what it's worth - you sound like a worthy candidate for the SGH 'biggest losers' club - though it's not the sort of community you'd really like to find yourself in.
