I need to clarify this as assumptions of 4m3/t and 11m3/t are not correct.
The post I had made with the ucg gtl scoping study was predominantly made to outline the correct methodology the company would be applying to ascertaining the gas assets.
The maths behind it is quite simple:
a) With UCG 1 tonne coal = 20,000 scf therefore 20 GJ per tonne
c) In GTL, it takes 10,000 scf per bbl.
Hence 1 tonne = 2 bbls liquid.
Seeing only 50% of the coals are used in UCG, if you had 1 trillion tonnes, 500 billion is available for use.
500 billion tonnes coal x 20,000 scf = 500B x 20,000/10000 = 1 trillion bbl
In addition to this:
500 billion x 20,000 scf = 10 million petajoules or 10,000 exajoules.
