The eSuperfund website is deceptively comprehensive! it contains everything you will need to know about super, smsf's, and you own account. So the need to ever ring eSuper is extremely minimal! Everything is set up to be inefficiently performed online, with minimal personal contact - hence you are charged so little. They have thousands of clients & receive hundreds of calls each day. probably 95% of those can be answered by the caller spending 5 minutes to find the answer on their website! They also recommend emailing your query as being a more efficient way.

In relation to your questions, the answers are very clear ... You have two fees per annum ONLY
1] $699 annual fee to eSuper (plus a small $2.60 bank fee)
2] $180 ATO Supervisory Levy - payable p/a REGARDLESS of what you do in your super. (eSuper will advise you when this is due)

Esuperfund is only for those who dont need to be mothered, who FULLY understand SMSF and their own super, and use eSuperfund for what it is - An efficient "processing" facility for their SMSF. If you constantly need to be ringing them for info, then IMO go elsewhere.

If however you are one of the former, then the brilliant, efficient, no-hassle online system will suit you. And when you want to do things like:

Now some can whinge about not having a phone call answered immediately, and the naysayers can rave on about their awesome accountant who charges them thousand$$ annually, and will charge them extra for every one of the above - not to mention the hassle & time wasted ... but, I know which one I will choose & stick to!! :)
