    There are a number of providers that let you choose specific ASX stocks as part or all of your superannuation - this may be a better option than a SMSF given the higher % of fees you will pay via a SMSF given your low account balance.

    As to your fund's growth, if you invested in equities the return over the last six months is not great, but if in cash funds, probably OK.

    Personally I would not put my super into high risk/return stuff. My super is all in equities, but all ASX 100 stocks - although I have other more risky stocks outside of super.

    If you put it in a few speculative stock you may strike it lucky. More likely you will lose most of your money. Your choice..........
