"gse, thanks for your comments. I use FPmarkets, and as FPmarkets is 100% dma (not market maker) my understanding is that I am buying the 'real' ETFs in the US. However, when I get time I will check with Fpmarkets."

FP always seems to get great feed back from the sources I read , including here. But note DMA does not mean u are buying the ETF . You are placing the trade but their hedger is the one who actually owns it and am guessing it is you are buying a cfd on an ETF where as FP's hedger is buying the thing for real . How they then hedge is always the issue and how secure the hedger is also the problem .
FP markets was one of the biggest voices in opposing the changes many of us including IG and others were trying to make to make our industry more secure .
