ANZ treat etrade like a lowly subsidiary. they have never fully integrated them into their business. They are just happy to take the revenue without investing funds in the platform and people.
Commsec has as many problems as etrade though. There's a lot that can go wrong with these trading platforms and you are reliant on the people more than the systems to fix issues when they do come up.
answer is to have an account at a full service broker so when your online discount service goes offline you can still trade.
