As at 11pmEST the 9msn poll with a massive 80,696 respondents indicates that 63% of the respondents do not believe that Abbott would make a good Liberal leader.
IMO if Abbott were to be compared to Rudd it is my belief he would rate much lower than Malcolm Turnbull. So the zealots can prattle on about satisfying the hard core right wing elements of the Liberal Party but an alternative Prime Minister is required to take account the wishes of the broader electorate and in an overall sense not just a single issue such as the ETS.
So it is just spin to pretend these zealots are representing the interests of most Australians. Most of the anti ETS zealots in the Senate believe they are safe in the event of an election but all the liberals in marginal seats in the Reps will be put at risk and IMO some Liberal senators will be outed in favour of Labor and the Greens.
