"In the lead-up to the 2010 Federal election the Victorian ETU withdrew its support for the Labor party, citing Labor's refusal to scrap laws restricting union action on building sites"

Seems they feel that Labor is not sufficiently Pro Union !!!

Other Unions lobbying hard to ensure that their agenda is implemented. Current and FUTURE ALP leaders know which side their bread is buttered, and know what they have to do to keep their leadership aspirations alive.

    From the following article:

    http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/maritime-union-fuels-julia-gillards-war-on-foreign-workers/story-fn59niix-1226598623187

"Last month Workplace Relations Minister Bill Shorten publicly aligned himself with the MUA, declaring he wished he could inject its "spirit" into some Labor MPs to convince them the election was winnable.

Ms Gillard praised the union as a "voice for fairness and opportunity since 1872 and few unions have your amazing record of strength and solidarity in good times and in bad".

This is the context in which all the Bills are being rammed through parliament without debate. Buttress the unions, make it hard for the LNP to improve the economy through poisoned industrial relations policy, resist in the Senate
