The US and the UK( and Australia) are still at "war" with Iraq.

Every now and then it seems they fly over and bomb what is considered a WOMD site. That's probably the reason none of these weapons seem to be there now.

The US's insistence on a thorough ground search probably has a lot to do with a confirmation of the other surveillance methods.

For those of you who are not ideologically anti US (and there's not much that can be done to help those with that affliction) the world is a far safer place now than it has been for a long time.

Look at the new "friendships" and alliances that the US has and that includes China and most of the old Soviet block.

A lot of huffing and puffing has been coming from some here about Nth Korea. Nth Korea wants to deal directlly with the US because it knows that is where all the goodies for it's economy will come from.

But even more importantly than that former enemies like China and Russia are trying to get the US and Nth.Korea together. That's called co- operation.

As far as Asia and the Middle East areas of conflict are concerned they can be contained by the superior military power of the West (US led) for the present, and perhaps give time to resolve these issues without major conflagration.

The opposition to US world leadership is probably due to a multiplicity of reasons that have little to do with a real desire for world peace. I notice some of the peaceniks on HC are very aggressive and belligerent customers. I would hate to see their hands on the "war levers".
