re: eu referendum timetable - gaweb European Union is not a political entity such as state or federation and does not have any armed forces.
It is only economic union such as ASEAN or NAPHTA. Its member states are not obliged to support each other militarily although some of the might or would support each other if attacked.
Number of states and countries that are in EU are also members of NATO. that is a military organisation and its members are U.K. and USA but also France and Germany among many others. NATO is very silent on IRAQ preciesly because of this make up. NATO would not support USA/UK war effort unless sanctioned by UN and neither should Australia. Just because Georgie Bushes dad went for the eazy solution in the last Golf War does not oblige us to support them when his dummy boy want to play cowboy and Indians.
His tough kid stand is main reason stock markets are still on the skids, oil prices rising and to many people around the world are woried sick. Get real Georgie.
