The TGA have been hard at it.

Today they approved 5 Covid rapid antigen tests. Sadly Anteotechs offering wasn’t among them!

All 5 approvals, (3 at home and 2 point of care), appear to be versions of the All Test/My Covid product suite produced by Hangzhou Alltest Biotech and distributed in Australia by AM Diagnostics.

I had a look at one of those at home All Tests, currently on sale in Malaysia for 13.9Rm. That’s about $4.50 AUD!

The advertising blurb says it is:
- “Easy
- User friendly
- Can be self administered
- Instant result, within 15 minutes”

But also:
“Specifications of ALLTEST Covid-19 rapid antigen test
Sensitivity 91.38%
Specificity 100% “

If those %’s are accurate, when compared to Anteo’s trials at 97.3% and 99.6%, that suggests to me:

1. The TGA aren’t setting a very high bar, and

2. Unless there’s been an unexpected hurdle, EuGeni should be a shoe in.

I’m quietly optimistic. (Regrettably, with biotechs I’m often wrong)
