The turn around by the Chinese appears to me that they are happy to let herd immunity do its stuff.

It has finally dawned on them that there is no stopping or containing a virus. It doesn’t matter how good your vaccines may or may not be, any new virus is going to wreak havoc in its first years.

People will die. The question becomes, how badly do we wreck the economy to mitigate the harm.

Unfortunately, our government chose self enrichment over public health. Probably no different from other governments, I suppose.
