Wayne is likely in discussions with banks for several reasons, I have researched some possibilities.
Capital Raising: The company might be considering raising additional capital to fund its operations, research and development, marketing efforts, and expansion plans. Engaging with banks is a common step to explore funding options, which could include debt financing or equity investments.
Strategic Partnerships: Wayne could be exploring potential partnerships or collaborations with banks that have expertise in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry. Banks with specialised knowledge can provide strategic advice, financial insights, and connections to potential partners.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A): As mentioned in the interview, Wayne envisions the possibility of a takeover bid from larger industry players. Discussions with banks might involve exploring M&A strategies, valuations, and negotiations to ensure the best outcome for the company and its shareholders.
Valuation and Financial Analysis: Wayne has mentioned an NPV valuation of the company and aims to use it as a starting point for negotiations. Discussions with banks could involve financial experts analyzing the company's financials, market position, growth potential, and competition to provide a comprehensive valuation perspective.
Investor Relations: Engaging with banks can enhance the company's investor relations efforts. Banks can help communicate the company's strengths, growth prospects, and financial performance to potential investors and stakeholders, thereby increasing investor confidence.
Market Insights: Banks often have access to extensive market research and industry trends. Wayne might be seeking insights and data to validate their market assumptions, strategic direction, and growth projections.
Risk Management: Engaging with banks can also involve discussions about risk management strategies. Banks can provide advice on mitigating potential risks associated with currency fluctuations, market changes, and other external factors.
Legal and Regulatory Guidance: Banks with legal and regulatory expertise can assist in navigating complex financial regulations, compliance requirements, and due diligence processes that are crucial in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
Overall, the discussions with banks are likely aimed at aligning the company's financial strategies with its growth objectives, exploring potential partnerships, and optimising its position within the industry.I was curious as to why Wayne was in discussions with a bank and reasoned.
The fact that directors are seeking options at an EGM,(Not that I agree with that) however it is my belief we may be closer to the finish line than we may have otherwise believed. All will be revealed in time.
