Davo,
You just said EXACTLY what I have been saying for a week!!!!
CW,
Thanks for a bit of respect. Its a pity you didn't pay attention in my earlier posts, and had to wait to read it elsewhere.
I will repeat what I heard from a European ex-pat in a business meeting in China, "The Chinese can never do a straight deal. They complicate everything"
This is not a sinister comment. Its just that they have many, many obligations unspoken, unwritten. Its the way life is for a Chinese person.
The simple minded aussie thinks:- investment in, capital growth through efficiency, returns to pocket. Done. Next.
Their's is a long deep culture. Schooling in history consists in reading by rote history books half a meter high. (In my opinion, this is a very subtle factor that is borne in mind by the Communist Party. They do not want in 100 years to be known as a bunch of losers who spoiled China's chance of repairing the 100 years of shame - the period up to the end of WWII, see recent deep antagonism against the Japanese.)
Tell me that these simple differences are not going to cause problems. Its not deliberate necessarily, though mixed in it could be.
I am trying to tell everyone, things are not always what you see, and you have to start thinking like them, or at least be aware of it before you go throwing 51% away.
Hence, lets see what real commitments are made. What safeguards exist.
Just for the record, I am giving many thousands of dollars and a lot of visits worth of business and personal experience here for free. I just didn't realise at the time it was going to come in handy here.
I will be marrying a mainland chinese lady shortly, and she is all for Chinese co owning aussie companies, "its good for China." She even thinks that if Australia has big money problems they should sell the top third of Australia to China.
Everyone has just got to wake up and start coming up to speed. Canada and USA have had quiet angst for centuries and they have identical historical forebears culture and language. China is the next super power. Need to wrap your head around this.
Back to FML, use what I said to read very very carefully what is offered and not offered in the upcoming DT letter.
I have not sold anything, .. yet.
Thank goodness all the xeno and jingo has gone, and I am beginning to sense the scales are falling from some folks eyes, and starting to scrutinise things a bit better.
