I think this is the reason, This -Is-It.
BTV was MZI and as such was listed on the infamous Berlin Stock Exchange (which is renowned for Naked Short Selling Practices according to my research via Yahoo).
Therefore BTV had some German and I suppose some Dutch etc. Shareholders and to satisfy the needs of these Shareholders taking up Shares in THR a listing was required in Europe.
