STMicroelectronics has committed 5 billion euros ($5.4 billion) of investment in what it calls the world’s first fully integrated Silicon Carbide (SiC) plant in Italy. The project is backed by 2 billion euros from the Italian state and is the result of the EU’s Chips Act which aims to provide support for Europe’s chip industry.
Will be interesting to see who the 4-5 potential buyers Imec will refer 4DS to following the success of PL6.
