I am not suggesting Russian are manipulating AJL directly (though it maybe possible). But they certainly can with iGas becoz it is closer to home.
It is used to be militarily war and then cold war, imo, it is economic war. Many are using economic means to achieve their political and national interests, the West included. Examples, 1) Chinese flooded its weaker neighbour (Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand) with cheaper goods that makes domestic manufacturing uneconomical and once that manufacturing is gone they slow down supply and pump up the price; 2) The West put trade sanction on Russsia currently. It is possible to Russia, by the media for example, to make shale sound and look like uneconomical and deter investors away and thereby taking away one of the biggest argument for shale development. So it is not necessary that they have to campaign it through the anti-fracking protestors who are a punch of tools.
