Then You understand very well what I once wrote about mining in Austria. The Alps and mountains there are a very special geological formation. The ores are were pressed upwards. Above sea lovel and higher up to
4.000 meters above sea level.
Austria has famous steel producers like for example Voest Alpine, Böhler-Uddeholm (stainless steel) and also another special steel producer which belongs to German Georgsmarienhütte (there my company buys
high quality steel).
I once explained that´s why many tungsten ores have German names. Many analysts coming from there.
One city has the name Eisenerz, which means iron ore.
One similiar geological situation in Europe is in Portugal,
the Pansqueira Mine, which belongs to Canadian company Primary metals. Mountains not that high, but close to Atlantic.German company Osram is said to have bought one year productions of Tungsten from Panasqueira mine for bulbs and lamps. People say that another company would like to buy Primary metals.
German Thyssen-Krupp is said to be world´s largest stainless steel producer, needing a lot of molybdenum then i guess. Scandinavian Sandvik is a very interesing company needing both tungsten and molybdenum. A lot of iron ore around Kirkuna in Sweden by the way.
Just to explain the European demand of Tungsten and molybdenum.
Me as engineer using more and more special steel and
stainless steel myself. Special steels and things can then be constructed lighter, stainless steel and then no painted or zinc protecion is needed.
A lot of Uranium demand coming from Europe. For the reactors. Norway for example experiments with Thorium, which is mostly found there in Europe.
Most people don´t know that most of the Uranium
for Soviet atomic bombs was produced in East Germany during the Cold War in the fifties, sixties. In the Erzgebirge, which means ore mountains.
All that might eplain our European interesr in mining and THR
