You do realise that Barrick still have the large Loulo-Gounkoto complex in Mali, don't you?? It is not like they are just getting out at any cost.
There is no doubt there is sovereign risk by being in Africa anywhere, however that is why the share price is as low as it is, the market has already factored in sovereign risk.
The company would be multiples if their lithium deposit was in Australia. Given the sovereign risk, if this deal works out then on a risk/reward basis there is tremendous upside potential because of the low starting price.
