Batteries don't require the same principles for fire as petroleum products. Fuel, oxygen, ignition source (normally heat). Li batteries have a tendency to heat up when stored in large bundles, hence transporting them on a freighter (aircraft) is not suitable as the possibility of a fire is too great. I won't go into the boring detail, suffice to say IFALPA (international aviation mob) recommend not transporting them, let alone using them to power the aircraft.

In time perhaps, but let's focus on cars getting Li mobile first.
