Here is an article about a Chinese company called Desten Group that has developed a fast charger that can charge with up to 900 kW. The only car model that can take full advantage of the maximum charging rate is the Piëch GT (the company was founded by the son of deceased Ferdinand Piëch, whose extended family owns the majority of Volkswagen group), which recently entered the trial phase and is scheduled for series production in 2024. The battery of the car can be charged to 80 % in less than 5 minutes (with said charger I assume). The recently unveiled Porsche Mission R concept, which previews technology and desgin elements for the next Porsche Cayman and Boxster also due in 2024 can charge with up to 800 kW and has a 900 volt architecture. It will be interesting to see wether battery swap stations, employed by Nio or Geely for example, and or very high charging rates will see a breakthrough on a large scale.
