I think what everyone has missed is that mining lithium as Musk proposed wouldn’t be competitive at today’s prices...At today’s pricing it would be expensive to leech from clay etc.. however if compared to when lithium is at 3 or 4 x today’s market it will make sense.

I actually see the whole things as a huge positive for Lithium.

Elon just omitted the reason he wants to do what he proposed is due to the forecast of lithium pricing increasing significantly in the future.
