Teslas net margin is 1.89 %. "Investing" does not reduce that net margin. Investments in machines/equipment for example don't reduce earnings. Depreciation does.

ahem no that is not true. They are small no matter what margin definition you are using. No other OEM uses Teslas "automotive margin" definition.
Toyota for example has a net margin of 5.51 % That is 2.91 times higher than Teslas net margin. And Toyota sold over 10 million vehicles last year. Tesla like 370K.
Wh/km makes only sense if you compare vehicles that are similar in size, weight interior etc. At this point in time range is more important for many people than Wh/km
