True, BYD was originally a battery manufacturer before they started making cars. The BYD "blade battery" uses Lithium Iron Phosphate battery chemistry, so quite possibly very similar chemistry to the battery BYD is supplying to Tesla for its made in Shanghai Standard Range Model 3.

You're right - it's not clear about Renault Samsung motors. This was initially a car-making statted by Samsung in the early 199o's that Renault purchased in 2000 (but kept the Samsung name). Their first EV was the SM3 ZE, which was a rebadged Renault which (at least initially) is reported to have used batteries made by LG Chem (the very popular Renault Zoe also uses LG Chem batteries). Couldn't see any reference to use of Samsung battery technology in their cars.

GM Chevy Bolt also uses battery packs and cells made by LG Chem (as did the Chevy Volt), and its new "Ultium" EV architecture will also use LG Chem batteries.

Tesla initially used Panasonic 18650 cells for the Model S and Model X (and the Roadster before that). They use 2170 cells for the Model 3 and Y jointly developed and manufactured with Panasonic in Nevada. The upcoming 4680 cells for the Cybertruck and presumably the Semi will be the first made completely in house by Tesla (not clear if Panasonic is part of this).
