Toyota have been the most vocal about claiming how close they are to a solid state Lithium battery although that maybe because they don't really have much else to crow about in the BEV space. It would be a fairly safe bet that multiple entities around the world are working feverishly to bring a viable solid state battery to mass production and we won't hear about many of them unless one is successful.
It is also quite possible that incremental improvements in current chemistries will mean that by the time they arrive solid state batteries won't be the huge game changer that they are predicted to be especially since the first ones will likely cost substantially more than their conventional counterparts. Of course anything that can reduce the thermal runaway potential of a battery and improve its power to weight ratio simultaneously has to be a step forward for EVs even if it does cost more.
