the claim that batteries become unusable after 7 years is simply not factual. All EV manufacturers have an 8 year warranty on batteries, my Toyota hybrid has a ten year warranty on the battery. There is quite common anecdotal evidence of Teslas with over 500,000 kms on the clock with the original batteries. you might want to track the pricing of flat screen TVs to give yourself a pointer as to how affordable EVs will be in the future.
