And how long does it take to charge 40MWh? How long does the ESS last?
So Incat is building a "zero emission" ferry using presumably 100% Tassie hydro smeltered Aluminium, carbon offset Lithium and REE's, carbon offset employee vehicles and will then be charged by Argentinian power which is overwhelmingly made up of oil and gas...
Unless it has a dedicated wind farm and storage unit at least 8 times the largest ESS in the world to recharge it, or dedicated contracts with the small amount of nuclear or renewable suppliers in Argentina, then what is the point? Uruguay aint much better niether, the other port presumably the ferry will travel between. Its pure virtue signalling with the potential to be the biggest international tragedy and loss of life since 9/11...
At least Melbourne's garbage truck EV only had a single or second occupant... Brissie buses, perhaps a couple dozen... But 2100 souls, nothing but ocean and sharks around them and MASSIVE dumbster fire of 40MW of lithium and 225 cars. Ludicrous! (PS : RenewEconomy hasnt posted any future orders after the first garbo and Brissie just ordered a whole bunch of new diesels, sooooo....)
