The German government coalition has laid out plans to increase the renewable energy target for the electricity generation from 41.1 % in 2021 to 80 % in 2030 (previous target 65 %) and 100 % by 2035. The economy minister has presented over 500 pages worth of law changes that aim to speed up the expansion of renewable energy capacity.
"“80% renewables at an electricity demand of 750 TWh 2030 corresponds to 600 TWh renewables and the sum total of gross electricity production in 2019,” tweeted analyst Frank Peter of think-tank Agora Energiewende."
Even though EVs with vehicle to grid charging capability can help to stabilize the electrical grid there will also be a massive demand for large scale battery energy storage. Several other European states are also still significantly dependant on fossil energy resources from Russia and will probably also accelerate their renewable energy plans even further.
