The Russian war against Ukraine and the resulting sanctions against the aggressor have put a new urgency into renewable energy plans not only for Germany but all of free Europe. Relatively cheap Russian gas is still flowing at present but if the hostilities continue on their present path the tap will turn off shortly and Europe will be desperately looking for new energy sources.
Renewables are not viable without storage but big batteries take time and capital to bring online. Encouraging V2G for all EVs would benefit consumers through arbitrage trading and power stability as well as better utilising their asset for the greater good. Although big batteries will definitely be needed V2G for existing EVs would be much faster to bring online and capacity would obviously grow with new EV sales.
