Electric vehicle sales: this tax break is about to make EVs cheaper (copyright link)

"The federal government’s plans to remove fringe benefits tax and import tariffs for electric vehicles will cut prices for eligible models by nearly $5000, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen says. Labor has introduced legislation to cut the charges and boost EV take-up. Mr Bowen used an EV summit in Canberra on Friday to release a discussion paper on the government’s strategy, expected to include carbon emissions rules on new car sales."
