Trust the AFR to publish fossil fuel propaganda. Note the use of the word “power” to obfuscate the difference between “electricity” and “energy”. Switching to electrically-powered machinery will certainly increase the use of electricity but almost certainly reduce the use of energy (and fossil
fuels) because electric motors are so much more efficient than diesel. And over time, solar and wind can be added to the generation mix, and the gas (methane) replaced with green hydrogen produced on site to go fully carbon neutral.
