...Tesla and EU car makers want to make them in China, because that's the only way they can compete with Chinese EVs on level playing field as China has cheaper energy, labour, critical minerals, batteries and a large domestic market that has readily embraced EVs.
...which means most of the lithium for EVs will be consumed within China. And global auto makers rejoice for access to cheap lithium and batteries to produce their EVs cheaply to reach desired price parity with ICE vehicles.
