Rio Tinto says it has agreed to buy Arcadium Lithium for around $US6.7 billion ($9.9 billion).
Rio’s chief executive Jakob Stausholm said the deal was “a significant step forward in Rio Tinto’s long-term strategy, creating a world-class lithium business alongside our leading aluminium and copper operations to supply materials needed for the energy transition”.
In a statement, the Rio said the deal had been approved by the board of both companies.
