China is considering restricting exports of advanced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, used in high-performance batteries by CATL. The restrictions would cover overseas investments, technology transfers, and licensing.
Only CATL suppliers Hunan Yuneng and Fulin Precision possess this technology. The potential impact on Chinese battery companies’ overseas operations, like CATL and EVE Energy, is unclear.
This move follows similar restrictions on key technologies like ByteDance’s algorithms and aims to protect China’s competitive edge in EV batteries.
