Passenger car and light duty vehicle EV sales experienced a 13% decrease month-on-month to 1.12 million units.
All regions experienced a month-on-month decrease, with Japan seeing the largest decrease at 51%.
Japan’s PC & LDV EV sales were also down 36% year-on-year and 23% year to date.
The weak performance of EVs in Japan at the start of this year is symptomatic of both total vehicle sales being down 17% year to date and the relatively strong performance of HEVs in the region.
